However, once the rig was built, the animators had a lot of tools to be creative with how they moved those joints to give the character weight and a sense of heaviness to the animations. “The alien was a complex rig because of the double jointed nature of his arms and legs, which presented some interesting challenges for the animators and for the riggers,” Adam Benson explains. Later, we saw a full body created with computer graphics.
